This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones ViaPlot uses, and what choices you have. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites function, to remember your preferences, and to provide anonymised reporting to site operators.
2. Cookies We Use
ViaPlot uses a minimal number of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or any cookies from ad networks.
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Service to function and cannot be switched off. They do not store any personally identifiable information.

2.2 Analytics
We use a self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics for anonymised traffic statistics. Plausible is cookieless by design — it sets no cookies whatsoever on your device and collects no personal data. No consent is required for cookieless analytics under the ePrivacy Directive.
2.3 Bot Protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
Sign-up and waitlist forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated abuse. Turnstile may store a short-lived challenge cookie or local storage entry during form submission. This data is not used for tracking and expires immediately after the challenge is solved. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
2.4 Third-Party Maps (Mapbox)
When you view or interact with a map embedded on ViaPlot, map tiles and geocoding requests are served by Mapbox. Mapbox may set its own cookies or similar identifiers for usage analytics. See Mapbox's Privacy Policy.
3. No Consent Banner Required?
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, consent is required only for non-essential cookies. Because ViaPlot:
- uses no advertising or tracking cookies,
- uses cookieless analytics (Plausible), and
- uses session and CSRF cookies only as strictly necessary for the service to function,
we do not display a cookie consent banner. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and introduce appropriate consent mechanisms.
4. Managing Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies (such as the session cookie) will prevent you from logging in. Here are links to cookie management guides for common browsers:

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page when we do.
